Minify styles (minifyStyles)
Minifies CSS inside <style> elements (whitespace, redundant syntax) before or instead of inlining.
What Minify styles does in SVGO
SVGO applies minifyStyles as part of its plugin pipeline. On SVGOMG.net the toggle is labeled Minify styles (enabled by default). Optimization runs entirely in your browser — files are not uploaded to a server.
Use SVGOMG.net with Show original to compare before and after. If output looks wrong, disable this plugin first, then re-enable related transforms one at a time.
When to enable
SVGs that keep internal stylesheets rather than inlined attributes.
When to disable
When you rely on readable CSS remaining in the file for debugging.
Watch out for
Pair with mergeStyles for best results.
Try it
- Open SVGOMG.net and load your SVG (file, paste, or demo).
- Find Minify styles in the Features panel (
minifyStyles). - Toggle the plugin and compare the preview; download when satisfied.
