Remove script elements (`removeScripts`)

Strips <script> elements and related event attributes from SVG.

What Remove script elements does in SVGO

SVGO applies removeScripts as part of its plugin pipeline. On SVGOMG.net the toggle is labeled Remove script elements (off by default). Optimization runs entirely in your browser — files are not uploaded to a server.

Use SVGOMG.net with Show original to compare before and after. If output looks wrong, disable this plugin first, then re-enable related transforms one at a time.

When to enable

Static assets where scripts are never executed (most web icons).

When to disable

Interactive SVGs that rely on embedded script.

Watch out for

Security-sensitive sites should remove scripts from user uploads.

Try it

Open SVGOMG.net and load your SVG (file, paste, or demo).
Find Remove script elements in the Features panel (removeScripts).
Toggle the plugin and compare the preview; download when satisfied.
